WordPress – a tailored approach

Blogging & keeping social networking accounts fresh & up to date is something that many of our clients struggle to stay on top of when they come to us.

It isn’t enough to send out a monthly newsletter to customers anymore & it seems that the quick phone call is becoming a thing of the past.

So, the question we get asked time & time again is what’s the best tool to keep existing & new customers up to date & interested with what their company is doing.

There are a number of different methods to achieve the perfect way of communicating with the most instant being to sign up for the usual networking accounts such as twitter, facebook, bebo etc. Status updates can then be written & copied into all of the accounts manually. Time consuming but it can work.

Don’t forget to put links on your current site inviting people to follow or like your profile on the various social networking platforms.

One thing everyone notices when they try & set up wordpress on their website is that it seems the look & feel is restricted to pre-designed wordpress templates.

There is a way to alter the appearance so that it follows your own website look & feel & if you are reading this blog you’ll realise that’s exactly what we did with ours.

Prince II – is it worth a week of hell?

Ok, so for those of us that have completed our Prince II practioners award we’re all very much aware of how intense those five days are with two fairly heavy exams plus homework & not forgetting the weeks of prep beforehand!

The question we want to ask is the pain worth it at the end?

At oval frog all of our Project Managers are Prince II practioners & certainly practice what they preach – to a point that is.

We very much use elements of the tool to suit the client & the type of project we’re managing at the time, rather than trying to use the entire model which can be counter productive & not very cost effective.

So, we want to know how you apply Prince II to your projects (if at all) or whether you have employed a PM based on the fact they have the qualification in the bag.

Is it a valuable tool to have or not? We say yes to Prince II provided the approach is tailored to suit the needs of the project as well as the client – but what do you think?
